The Mind of a Keab42

From the Vaults 16: Light through the leaves
Photo Dated: 05/05/2006
I love playing with light, and so when I saw the sunlight through these Chestnut leaves I just had to take the photo. I took a couple of attempts to get a shot where the breeze didn’t move them out of frame at the last second but I’m pretty pleased with it. I love the strong colours, and the little details that are visible thanks to the strong light.
This photo is also one of the first I took using the technique of having something brightly lit in focus and a darker background out of focus, which produces an almost black background and enhances the colours of the picture. It’s an especially useful trick when playing with flower photography and one that I’m pleased I can replicate with success these days, which is to say that when I reach my more recent photographs you’ll probably realise I’ve overused it of late.
